Ya know how all the Falwells, Robertsons and lesser known extremist anti-intellectuals of the homophobic christian right always love to show the most 'out-there' party-hardy 'gayest of the gay' folks partying and having extreme, stylish and often erotic fun at Gay Pride events as if that photo or video represents the average every-day gay person in their every-day life (except for the Cheney family dyke of course, who, poor thing, is merely going to burn in hell)?

Well, in honor of Gay Pride, Gay Independence Month, all the Christopher Street Parades and such -- which typically get celebrated in June -- here's some of the recent stuff I found on the recent and upcoming outrageous antics of the most extreme right wingers that even right wingers love to (publicly denounce and) hate -- although not as much as they hate and fear gay people (and probably less than the white ones really hate and fear black people, with whom they will gladly join efforts -- the similarly homophobically inclined be they black, muslim, latino, jewish, etc -- for brief periods of time, such as mid-term elections, in order to punctuate their intense shared hatred and fear of gay men and lesbians -- nothing like a homophobic hoe-down to bring people together under a big tent).

They represent the manifestation if not the epitome of the hate, intolerance, homophobia and bigotry crafted and fomented by the right, courted and uncritically embraced wholesale by the repugnacon (aka 'republican') party, fundamentalist christians, literal thinkers and other religious, fanatical, hypcritical conservatives, self-hating homos (Andrew Sullivan, that Cheney idiot, et al) and the other paranoid, sex-fearing, fear-mongering right-wingers.

Anyway, read about a blogger's recent encounter in North Carolina with the the wife and others from Reverend Fred Phelps "God Hates Fags & American Soldiers" right-wing nut-jobs of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas. (What indeed is the matter with Kansas?)

Nothing particularly shocking or newly revelatory about these kooks (who are not particularly competent grammarians), but there are some candid photos far more interesting than those that appear in typical news reports and it makes for interesting first person reading. Thanks for sharing, Chris!

Footnote: Weird domain encounters. A couple of times the GodHatesFags.com URL forwarded to the GodLovesFags.com blog site, other times it didn't -- weird. Ironically, when I looked at the blog site, there were several Amazon.com recommendations for some Queer Cinema Classics including "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" and the Showtime Lesbian Soap Drama, "The L Word". Tee hee.

If you check various Whois info records for their network of sites, GodHatesAmerica.com is now part of that network and there are all sorts of 'related sites' listed, several of which are actually gay-friendly! (and unlike these nuts, site aggregator algorithms apparently don't discriminate).

Below are the first (January 2001) and most recent registrar records for GodHatesFags.com (which boldly proclaims on their site that "SODOMY IS AN ABOMINABLE SIN, WORTHY OF DEATH" and with which the 'traditional' 'not-kooky' fanatical right-wing fundamentalists totally agree).
